THE Persatuan Alumni Assunta Committee (PAAC) is calling former students to contribute to their old school.
The PAAC is holding an Assunta carnival on Saturday to raise funds for the building of a new block and the “Thinking Pool.”
The Thinking Pool (TP) is a room of quiet where only thoughts should speak and was the brainchild of Enda Ryan, a former principal.
“We want to bring back the Assunta spirit and the TP which is part of the school history which is now missing,” said PAAC committee member Pat Lu.
Lu said as former Assuntarians, it was their moral obligation to give something back to their former school.
She said the idea of a TP was conceived by Enda during her visit to the United Nations back in 1968 and it was modelled after the Room of Quiet (UN Meditation Room).
She said when Enda retired, the TP and surrounding area made way for more buildings.
“It is Enda’s wish that the TP be revived. She will personally be here on the charity day to revive the spirit of Assunta and the TP,” Lu said.
