THE Assunta Alumni dinner and dance held at Sunway Lagoon Resort hotel recently, was a chance for old girls to come together and re-establish former acquaintances and forge new ones.
The evening, attended by past Assuntarians including teachers, was made interesting with the present Assunta students.
”By inviting present Form Five and Six students of SM Assunta to the dinner, we hope to nurture the Assunta family spirit and to ensure the continuity of the alumni for generations to come,” said patron of the dinner and dance 2001 Puan Sri Suslita Majid from the class of 1969.
Suslita is the wife of Chief Secretary to the Government, Tan Sri Samsuddin Osman.
”Students are encouraged to join and experience our activities first hand and get to know past pupils of their school,” she said.
More than 400 people attended the dinner.
Guests were treated to a multimedia presentation on the history of the school, entitled Down Memory Lane, followed by Odyssey which was a performance by students, and Phases of Life, a unique fashion show by old girls who have now taken on the roles of mothers, home-makers, professionals and community leaders.
Profits from the event as well as an extra RM10,000 presented by Datuk Maznah Abdul Jalil from South East Asia Insurance Bhd, will be channelled to the alumni’s activities and to support Assunta primary and secondary schools in Petaling Jaya.
An exciting raffle draw was also held.
